CONROE, TX – The City of Conroe Fire Marshal’s Office is announcing that a juvenile suspect has been identified, and is in custody with charges pending, for the arson fires that occurred in Wal-Mart, located at 1407 N Loop 336 W, on September 9, 2011. At this time no additional information on the juvenile suspect’s identity will be released.
The fires, reported at approximately 1:42 pm, forced complete evacuation and closure of the store for several hours. Losses incurred due to the fires are estimated to be over $8,000. Rapid response and extinguishment by City of Conroe Fire Fighters prevented further losses and store closure.
Several agencies participated in the investigation of these fires. Some of them include the City of Conroe Fire Marshal’s Office, the City of Conroe Police Department, the Conroe Independent School District Police Department, Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Personnel, and the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office.
