kingwood accident claims splendora HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR

Just after 11 p.m. last night a Isuzu flat bed truck driving northbound on US 59 at Northpark experienced a blown tire. The driver, who was in the center lane started moving to the right shoulder. As he did so 18-year-old Eduardo Garza, 18, of Splendora approached him in a Toyota Tacoma pickup at a high rate of speed. Unable to control his speed he struck the rear of the flat bed.

Porter Fire Department and MCSO were originally dispatched to the location which came in as FM 1314 and US 59. However, as other calls came in dispatchers realized the crash was actually in Houston and Houston Fire Department was dispatched.

Houston firefighters had to use heavy equipment to cut Garza out of the vehicle. He was then transported to LBJ Hospital in Houston where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Houston police accident investigators Sgt. Sorge and Officer Martinez stated the Isuzu was not at fault in the crash. That driver was not injured.
