Just after 5 pm a 2024 Freightliner box truck was northbound on I-45 just north of SH 99. The driver said he tried to avoid a crash with a pickup that stopped quickly in traffic. In doing so the truck driver swerved into the left lane. In that left lane was an 18-wheeler. That 18-wheeler slammed into the box truck pushing it to the center barrier wall and partially rolling it over. That crash also struck another pickup, another passenger car and a Tesla. That driver was able to provide DPS with a dashcam video showing the crash. Two persons from passenger vehicles were transported to the hospital. The box truck driver was also transported. Miller Towing removed the 18-wheeler from the scene. Adamicks removed the box truck from the scene. The crash ruptured the fuel tank of the box truck spilling 150 gallons of diesel on the freeway on both the north and southbound side. Masters Hazmat is now tasked with cleaning it up, Their crews are on the scene and hope to have it completed by 10p,. At 8 pm the right shoulder and one right lane is open northbound. Southbound has 3 right lanes open. Feeder traffic in both directions is extremely heavy at Rayford.
