LENGTHY PURSUIT OF 18-WHEELER ENDS

About 945pm an off-duty officer reported an 18-wheeler possibly intoxicated on I-10 near Barker Cypress. Units spotted him and tried to stop him. The chase went up Highway 6 then north on Highway 6 through several neighborhoods and cul-de-sacs. Then back on Highway 6 to 290 and east to FM 529. The driver then traveled outbound to Barker Cypress and South on Barker Cypress to I-10. He then traveled to Igloo Drive where the truck became disabled. Two adults and two children were in the truck. Deputies had to taze the driver.  During the chase, spikes were set up several times and were hit but kept going. Several patrol cars were also spiked. When units attempted a roadblock it was rammed. The driver never slowed for red lights. Deputies ahead of the chase blocked intersections to stop motorists from entering the intersections and getting hit. In all, over 40 vehicles were involved in the pursuit.
