Early this morning Entergy Texas, Inc. performed inspections of the Lewis Creek Reservoir dam with a geotechnical engineer and have confirmed that the dam remains intact. Previously installed protective covering continues to hold.
Following the heavy rains on May 25 and May 26, inspections revealed two additional areas of soil movement, which were not unexpected. The new areas will receive protective covering.
“We continue to closely monitor the dam, the repairs and protective measures put in place the past few days are intact,” said Sallie Rainer, president and CEO of Entergy Texas. “We have pre-positioned materials, such as covering and limestone, in order to quickly mitigate new areas of soil movement.”
The company will continue to work around the clock with remediation efforts. Repair efforts will continue until all repairs are complete.
