LIBERTY COUNTY ANIMAL CRUELTY

A citizen’s complaint called in to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, June 3rd. regarding several animals that appeared to be neglected at #207 CR 3600, in north Liberty County, has resulted in the seizure of six (6) horses, One (1) Donkey, two (2) dogs, one (1) cat and four (4) pigs. All the animals have been turned over to the Houston SPCA and a seizure hearing will be held next Tuesday at 10: am in Judge Ralph Fuller’s Pct. 6 Justice Court.

Deputy Linda Bloomingdale who received the original complaint made arrangements with the SPCA to meet early today to evaluate the situation. Investigator Maggie Kovacs with the SPCA and Dep. Bloomingdale went to the address and found the animals in very poor condition with one horse being kept in a horse trailer with only rancid water to drink and no food. Other horses were in a pen area standing in 9” of feces and were using that for food as there was no water or food for them. The other animals were in equally deplorable living conditions. Deputy Bloomingdale said that it looks as though the animals had been totally abandoned as there was no one at the residence during the time of her investigation.

A warrant was secured out of Judge Fuller’s Justice Of The Peace Pct. 6 Court and the animals were then released to the Houston SPCA. Deputy Bloomingdale posted a seizure warrant at the residence and the investigation will continue with possible charges being filed later if the owners of the animals can be located.
