Sheriff Department’s Sgt. Investigators Chris Ungles and Billy Knox has advised that Luther Don Whitmire , 42, suspect in the Hull State Bank burglary of June 12, 2013 has been arrested in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana and is presently in custody of the Sheriff’s Department in that Parish. Preliminary information is that Whitmire was arrested on Tuesday evening, June 18th. but it was not confirmed until yesterday, June 19th. While exchanging information with Calcasieu Parish that it was, in fact, Luther Whitmire that was wanted in Liberty County. Kala Jenee Moor , 27 was with Whitmire when he was arrested and it has not been determined, at this time, if Moor was involved with the burglary in some way or if she was with Luther Whitmire against her will. However, it was confirmed that Moor is safe and uninjured.
Details of the arrest and eventual extradition are still being worked out by Liberty County Sheriff’s Department Investigators and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department. As mentioned on an earlier news release, Luther Whitmire was already wanted on a parole violation but other charges will be pending in Liberty County as the investigation continues.
