At approximately 9am this morning, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call in which the caller stated a small child had been found in a pond off of F.M. 1008 and was not conscious or breathing.
The 9-1-1 operator kept the caller on the line and began CPR over the phone until First Responders could arrive.
Responding Deputies, Captain Rex Evans and Deputy T. Pierce with the LCSO arrived and continued CPR until Liberty County EMS arrived.
Liberty County EMS worked on the child for a time and then transported the child, later identified as Stormy Cook, age 18-months to the Cleveland Medical Center where Emergency Room personnel tried desperately to save her, however, she was pronounced deceased at approximately 1020am.
At this time there is no foul play indicated. Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing their investigation.
