LIBERTY COUNTY PURSUIT SUSPECT WHO KILLED PASSENGER HAS LENGTHY CRIMINAL HISTORY

On Tuesday night a Liberty County deputy attempted to stop Scott Ray Addison of Splendora after finding the Texas license plate did not match the truck. Addison fled down FM 1010 to County Road 3407 and around to County Road 3405, a heavily residential road with speeds close to 100 miles per hour. He then turned down a logging road, crashed through a gate, and led the deputy down a muddy dirt road. He then came onto a washout where he flipped the truck. His passenger, Sandra Kay Bradley,  was elected and crushed under the overturned pickup. Addison fled into the night. K-9 units were called in and after close to an hour they located Addison, who was injured in the canal filled with water. Attempting to elude the K-9 detection and with outside temperatures hovering at 40 degrees he opted to hide in the water. K-9 units located him with just his head and shoulders above the water. He was transported to Kingwood Hospital and then to the Liberty County Jail. He now faces a murder charge. It is expected for Harris County also to file unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as the pickup he was driving was stolen. Addison, who is 48-years-old started his criminal life in August of 1994 when he was arrested for evading arrest in Montgomery County. He was fined $300.  August 1996 when he was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity after multiple thefts. Eight months later Judge Hamilton dismissed the case but sentenced him to deferred probation of the other five theft charges. She amended that probation in January 2000 ordering Addison to drug classes and court-ordered drug testing. That probation never was completed because on December 17, 2001, the Montgomery County Narcotics Unit raided Addison’s home. With his family having several foster children in the house, Addison had a meth lab in which he was producing a substantial amount of meth. This was in a trailer not 30 yards from his family’s home. DEA Hazmat units were called in and removed nearly 100 gallons of solvents. They estimated he was producing at least 25 pounds of meth a year which back then went for $15,000 a pound. He was prosecuted on the Federal level.  Addison took a break while in Federal prison but it wasn’t enough to deter him. In January of 2007. On Sunday, January 28, 2007, Addison allegedly committed a traffic violation, causing a Splendora Police Department officer to stop him. The officer called for assistance from a Department of Public Safety K-9 unit. After probable cause was established, the vehicle Addison was driving was searched, and the officer confiscated between 4 and 200 grams of methamphetamine and took him into custody. Montgomery County District Judge Hamilton sentenced Addison to 8-years of deferred probation on December 17, 2007. He completed that probation on February 24, 2012. In 2022 he moved his criminal activity to Liberty County with a theft case in December of 2022, and another theft case in August of 2023 when he stole a utility trailer, oil field equipment, and a gas dehydration tower and a storage shed.  All the Liberty cases were combined and Judge Cain sentenced Addison to 10 years deferred probation on July 30, 2024. He is now being held in the Liberty County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

EARLIER STORY
On the evening of Tuesday, December 11, 2024, at approximately 8:34 p.m., a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted a traffic stop on FM 1010 in the Plum Grove area. The deputy identified a discrepancy between the license plate and the vehicle to which it was attached, prompting the stop.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Scotty Addison, 48, of Splendora, initially slowed as if to comply but then accelerated, leading the deputy on a high-speed pursuit. The chase continued onto CR 340 and CR 3405, with speeds reaching up to 75 miles per hour.
The vehicle eventually turned onto a private driveway, drove through a chained gate, and continued down a muddy road before losing control after encountering a small washout. Tragically, the passenger, later identified as Sandra Kay Bradley, 38, was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped beneath it. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver fled the scene on foot but was located approximately 40 minutes later by a K-9 unit. Addison was found hiding in a drainage ditch, submerged up to his neck in water. He was taken into custody, evaluated for minor injuries at Kingwood Hospital, and subsequently transported to the Liberty County Jail. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
Addison is charged with Murder in connection with the death of Sandra Kay Bradley. Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle involved in the incident was reported stolen out of the Houston area.
