LIGHTNING SPARKS WOODLANDS HOUSE FIRE

About 5:15 am Woodlands Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on W. Velera Ridge Ct. in the Creekside area. The caller reported lightning had struck the house and the attic was on fire with fire coming out of the roof. The family was attempting to rescue their animals before evacuating, which they were able to do. Woodlands Fire went on the scene and requested Spring to assist. Outside, with intense rain and lightning firefighters worked to douse the flames. Two crews entered the home but inside the house conditions worsened to the point firefighters had to evacuate the building and fight the fire from the outside. Once the fire was knocked down with the help of the ladder truck firefighters were able to go back inside and fight the blaze. There were no injuries.
