Lindsey Wayne Minter, age 72, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at his home in Conroe, Texas surrounded by his family. He passed away after a three-year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Houston, Texas on June 7, 1950, to Gary Paul Minter and Mary Lolette Minter.

Lindsey was born in Houston Heights in 1950. He graduated from Lutheran High School in South Houston in 1968. He was their star quarterback and had been scouted and sought out for his talent to attend their high school. He was the baby of the family with 3 older siblings, Arlette, Martha, and Paul. They lived in a house full of love, lots of laughter, and many, many friends. He taught himself to play the drums as a teenager. His love for the drums throughout his life provided many opportunities for him. He played in church as a young boy at Heights Assembly Of God. As he became a more accomplished drummer, he became well-known in Houston and formed his first official band with his brother. They formed the band Navasota and went to L.A. in 1972 to make their first album, Navasota Rootin’! The band Steely Dan produced their album! They lived in L.A. for a few months after its huge success. This opened many doors in the music business for them, even globally. They toured Europe after their success in L.A. After playing in Navasota, Lindsey and Paul went on to play for and open for many well-known bands, including Ronnie Milsap, Eddie Rabbit, Daryl McCall, and many others. They had the opportunity to meet many famous musicians in all genres of the music business. Lindsey loved playing the drums and this became his passion and his career in the early years.

Lindsey met and married his beautiful wife, Danette Minter in the late 80’s and they married on September 27, 1990. They had 3 beautiful children together. Meagan, Jon Paul, and Lindsey Wayne Jr., They were also blessed with six grandchildren.

Another passion of Lindsey’s was fishing. He turned this passion into his own business. He became a Marine Mechanic, well known in the Conroe and surrounding areas. He was an avid fisherman who relished any opportunity he had, to be with his family and friends on the water fishing.

He also loved the beach and the ocean. He loved the sound of the waves and the peaceful feeling he experienced while there. Earlier in his life, he took up surfing. You could always find him riding the waves on a surfing adventure wherever that took him!

Lindsey is preceded in death by, his father, Gary Paul Minter, his mother, Mary Lolette Minter, his sister Martha Sue Minter, and his brother, Gary Paul Minter, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife Danette Minter. By his daughter Meagan Letourneau and her children Emma, Isabella, Ayden, and Abigail. His son Jon Paul Minter and spouse, Brittni Minter, and their children Braylee and Berklee. Also, his son Lindsey Wayne Jr. and his partner, Tiana Hodges.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Arlette Montalbano. Also, by his nephew, Kevin Heil, and nieces Jan Lindley, Joni Montalbano, and Kari Kobal, and spouses, Dwight Lindley, and Chip Kobal. Also by his Neice, Tonya Horton, and spouse Steve Horton. All of our children, D.J. Lindley and family, Cody Lindley and family, Blake Williamson, Christian Kobal, Kamryn Kobal, Ashley Heinrich and family, and Chaz Horton and family. Also, many, many other nieces, nephews, and other family members in the Minter Family on both sides.

Lindsey lived a beautiful life always surrounded by family and friends. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face. He was very funny always cracking a joke to make you laugh. He was full of love and support for the ones he loved. So wise. He always made time for the ones he loved. You could always count on him to offer a hug, some advice, and a listening ear to all that knew him. He had a huge heart for his family and friends.

He will be missed by so many. But he was ready and had made peace with The Lord. He was ready “To Go Home”!
