Local Firefighters Deployed for Wildland Fires

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Today, two Needham Fire / ESD 4 firefighters, along with their new Type 6 Wildland Engine, responded to a statewide call for assistance after Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate Texas Wildland Firefighters through the Texas Intrastate Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).

This proactive deployment positions firefighting resources across Texas in preparation for potentially hazardous fire conditions.

The local crew is assigned to Strike Team 177, currently staging in Beeville, Texas, for a potential 14-day deployment.

The strike team is comprised of equipment and personnel from:
🔥 Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue
🔥 Bexar County ESD 12 Fire/Rescue
🔥 East Montgomery County Fire Department
🔥 Galveston Fire Department
🔥 Forest Bend Fire Department
