One local woman was killed and a second seriously injured in a crass that occurred just after 2 p.m. Tuesday on FM 1488 near College Park. It was reported the victims were trapped and the vehicle was on fire. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy was seconds away when it was dispatched and arrived on the scene. She reported there was no fire, but victims were trapped. Needham Fire Department responded along with MCHD. After extricating the victims they were transported to Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands.
According to DPS, a Ford Fiesta was westbound on FM 1488 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound GMC Yukon head-on. The driver of the Fiesta was Alyssa Ann Mills, a 21-year-old college student from Magnolia. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, where she was later pronounced dead. Denise Tolbert, 61, of Magnolia was driving the Yukon that was struck. She, too, was transported to Memorial Hermann with serious injuries but is expected to recover.
So many wrecks where a driver “for unknown reasons, crosses the center stripe” ONLY ONE THING comes to mind. Texting/ internet navigation. Law enforcement has to crack down on this idiotic activity.
Could’ve been drunk. Could’ve fallen asleep. Could’ve had a medical episode.
