The next large weather system is expected to move into Texas on Thursday with showers/storms filling in across the region from west to east. Rainfall will start out scattered to isolated early in the day, but will later become widespread Thursday evening. The highest rainfall rates are broadly expected Thursday night through Friday afternoon, with showers/storms tapering off Friday evening into the weekend. Rainfall totals of 1.5 – 3.5 inches are expected over this two day period with the highest rainfall totals generally expected generally south/southwest of Conroe. The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has these areas under a Slight (Level 2/4) Risk of Excessive Rainfall on Thursday and Friday. While soils are dry, locally heavy rainfall could result in ponding on roadways and street flooding, especially in urban and low-lying areas.
