- Sunday night as Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy Chapa was on routine patrol on US 59 he observed a 2003 Lincoln LS move from the right lane crossing all lanes at a high rate of speed to the left lane.
As they approached East River Road the vehicle had accelerated to 75 mph and it was at this point Chapa initiated the stop. Talking to the male driver, he stated they had been in Houston and were heading back home to Mississippi.
The female passenger in the vehicle, who was identified as Shamarra Janet Cooper, 28, appeared to be concealing something in her hands. Unsure what it was she was removed from the vehicle and as Chapa cuffed her found her to be concealing Xanax.
She was arrested and taken to the East Montgomery Annex before being transported to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe. During her interview at the annex she stated she lived in Gloster, Mississippi and was a Sergeant at the Dixie State Correctional Facility in Jackson, Louisiana.
The driver was not detained, however Cooper was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $750 bond. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance PG 3 less than 28 grams.
