At 10:20 pm Sunday Montgomery County 911 received multiple calls for a head-on crash on FM 2978 near Tamina Road. This is between Woodlands Parkway and FM 1488. Magnolia Fire units were first on the scene with two vehicles and heavy damage and the driver of a Nissan Acura was pinned in.
Seconds later MCHD arrived on the scene and determined the young female had injuries incompatible with life and pronounced her dead. The other vehicle, an 18-wheeler tank truck carrying crude oil for Enterprise Transportation. The driver of the truck was uninjured but the truck suffered heavy damage to the tractor. Even though a load of crude remained intact, over 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the ruptured fuel tanks.
Haz-Mat International of Conroe was contacted to contain and remove the diesel on FM 2978.
Judge Conley pronounced Jenna Christine Beasley, 24, of Magnolia dead on the scene and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport her to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
FM 2978 remained closed for almost 4 hours as DPS Troopers investigated the crash. According to troopers, The 18-wheeler was southbound on FM 2978. It was driven by Billy Michael Sills, 53 of Pasadena. He was southbound on FM 2978 when Beasley who was northbound crossed the center line into his lane, With guard rails on both sides of the road the driver had nowhere to go. He braked but was hit head-on by the Acura.
