Magnolia Police Add K9

From Magnolia Police Department:

We’re happy to introduce the newest addition to our K9 unit.

This is Hart, who is an almost 2-year-old Belgian Shephard. He is a dual-purpose canine, trained on narcotics and criminal apprehension. After a rigorous 12-week training course, Hart is ready to hit the streets and help make his community safer.
K9 Hart was generously provided to the department by K9s.org (formerly K9s4COPs). K9s.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a safer future by placing K-9 officers in communities, schools, and hospitals.

Trained K9s can cost up to $45,000, making them out of reach for many public safety agencies. In 2010, Texas philanthropist Kristi Hoss Schiller founded K9s.org to ensure financial constraints don’t compromise safety. Since then, K9s.org has donated 326 highly trained K9s aiding in the seizure of billions in contraband, locating missing persons, assisting in arson investigations, and conducting sweeps for explosives and narcotics. Through its K9s4KIDs initiative, it has placed 40 school K9s, protecting over 2.5 million students daily. Learn more at K9s.org
