major accident closes fm 1488

At 12:25a.m. Needham Fire Department was dispatched to a major accident on FM 1488 near Carriage Hills. When they arrived they found a Ford pickup on it’s side in the middle of the road and a  2002 Chevrolet Tahoe on it’s side in the ditch. The driver of the pickup was out of the vehicle as was two of the four occupants of the Tahoe. The other two were trapped and took extensive extrication to remove them from the vehicle.

They were transported to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands in stable condition. The driver of the pickup was taken to Hermann Memorial for a mandatory blood draw. He was also treated for minor injuries.

DPS Troopers believe the Tahoe pulled out of the Knights of Columbus Hall onto FM 1488 going east when the pickup unable to stop swerved at the last minute clipping the rear of the Tahoe and flipping both.

Troopers believe alcohol was a factor on the pickup driver. Two bottles of alcohol were found near the Tahoe but were unopened.

Names have not been released as of yet.
