John Timothy Hargrave, 54 was traveling southbound on the service road of I-69 (US59) just after 9 p.m. in a Dodge pickup. When he approached the intersection he failed to stop for the red light and entered the intersection striking a Nissan pickup. Five occupants were in the Nissan, one of those a female approximately 12-years-old. She was sent to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands with severe head trauma. The other occupants did not receive serious injuries.
Hargrave was transported to the hospital for a mandatory blood draw as he is thought to have impaired.
This is not the first brush with the law for Hargrave. On October 26, 2011 he was arrested in Onalaska for driving while intoxicated when his blood alcohol was twice the legal limit.
Then just 19 days ago, just after 2 am, Hargrave assaulted his wife in Onalaska and was arrested by Onalaska Police for Assault causes bodily injury and assault. He was released later that day.
