Last Saturday evening, Caney Creek Firefighters were dispatched to a fire in the 11800 block of Stidham Road. Firefighters arrived and were able to determine it was an illegal burn. As firefighters were about to extinguish it, Jay Randall Middleton came down the driveway in his vehicle at about 50 mph and attempted to run the firefighters over. He swerved about the time that one of the firefighters jumped out of the way. He then ran into a tree. Multiple MCSO units responded to the scene. Middleton was charged with a Class AÂ misdemeanor, Deadly conduct. He was arrested and released on a $1000 bond.
