On February 9th, 2018, at 8PM, a Ram 1500 was being driven by Owen McNett(07/07/72) was northbound in the 18700 block of Telge Road approaching the intersection with 15800 Boudreaux Road. The intersection of these roads is T-intersection and a three-way stop controlled by stop signs. A Buick Verano was being driven by Wayne Childers, 54, of Cypress, westbound on Boudreaux. Childers entered the intersection to turn south on Telge. As Childers was crossing the intersection, McNett disregarded the stop sign and entered the intersection striking the driver side of Childers’ vehicle. Childers was killed by the crash. During the investigation McNett was found to be an intoxicated driver due to introduction of alcohol into his body and was arrested at the hospital. He was charged with murder due to his criminal history. This case is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division. In 1992 McNet was arrested in Kimble County for DWI . Again in 1996 he was arrested by Benbrook Police for his second DWI and got 30 days. In 2007 Houston Police arrested McNett for his third DWI for which he received 4 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In November 2012 he was again arrested by DPS in Mclennan County for what would be his fourth dwi he was given 6-years TDCJ. He now faces a murder charge for his 5th dwi.
