A Hispanic male in his early twenties has been transported to Kingwood Hospital in critical condition. Details are still under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The call came in after 6pm to MCHD that a man had been thrown from a horse and hit a wall on Portman Road in East Montgomery County. MCHD arrived on the scene to find a Hispanic male lying approximately 4 feet inside the rail of a horse track.

About forty spectators were on location at the time of the incident.  However none actually saw what happened. One person said they had left the starting gate and were coming around around the oval track. When the horses came back to the finish line one was minus it’s rider. When they went looking for him they found him approximately two-hundred feet from the finish line. He had an extensive head injury.

The Medic on the scene called for PHI Air Medical but shortly after cancelled the helicopter ands advised the dispatcher CPR was now in progress. He was then transported to Kingwood Hospital.
