MAN CRITICAL AFTER WOODLANDS CRASH

Just after 5:30 p.m. DPS was dispatched to a major accident at South Millbend and Sawdust. When Trooper Chapman arrived the 41-year-old driver of the 2008 motorcycle was already in the back of the ambulance. Medics were working hard to stabilize him. Within minutes he was transported to Hermann Woodlands in critical condition. It is believed the driver is from Bellville but Troopers are still investigating.

According to Trooper Chapman a Mercedes was turning onto Sawdust from South Millbend. The motorcycle was northbound on Sawdust. The Mercedes failed to yield right-of-way and pulled out in front of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist attempted to lay the bike down but struck the left passenger door of the Mercedes.

The 29-year-old driver of the Mercedes voluntarily submitted to a mandatory blood draw.  Troopers don’t believe he was intoxicated but just scared.

The roadway was closed for over an hour.
