MAN HIRED TO MOVE FURNITURE NOT A BOXED BODY

On Friday, May 16th, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Harris County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to multiple calls in the vicinity of the 4000 block of Tim Allen Court. Initial calls were reporting a vehicle accident where the striking vehicle had fled the scene. Also being received was a report of a male individual, who later was identified as the driver of the striking vehicle in the hit and run accident, who reported observing a dead body at a residence. Deputies made contact with the male, and he stated a man had offered to pay him to help him move furniture. When he went to the man’s house to help him move the furniture, he observed a deceased individual in the boxes he was instructed to help move. The male then fled the scene in the man’s truck, with the man in the bed of the truck. The male then struck a vehicle as he was fleeing the scene, and a man in the bed of the truck fled on foot. This man was later detained by responding deputies. Homicide detectives determined the deceased individual at the home as a contractor who had been working at the home. The resident of the home, identified as 36-year-old Steven Eberly (11/04/1988), was interviewed by detectives about the incident and has been charged with murder.

The exact cause and manner of death have not been determined and are awaiting autopsy results. The identity of the deceased individual is not being released at this time pending a positive identification and notification of next of kin.
