MAN IDENTIFIED IN THURSDAY MORNING SH 242 FATAL CRASH

Just after 6 am Montgomery County 911 received a call of a pedestrian being struck by an 18-wheeler on SH 242 near Old Houston. Caney Creek Fire arrived on scene at SH 242 and Fawn Ridge and found Billie Durell Mccoy, 55, of New Caney deceased in the roadway. DPS investigated the crash and determined JB Hunt Dedicated Services 18 wheeler tractor was eastbound on SH 242 when the driver struck Mccoy who was in the middle of the roadway. Another motorist had almost struck him also and had turned around to go back to where they saw the victim. By the time that driver returned Mccoy had already been struck. Another driver reported seeing the Mccoy walking down 242 near FM 1314 almost an hour earlier. SH 242 reopened at 8:30 am. Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn responded to the scene to perform an inquest and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
