MAN INDICTED FOR MURDER AFTER CHILDREN WATCH HIM RUN OVER THEIR FATHER

Raul Najera, 25 has been indicted for murder by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on Tuesday. He is charged with the murder of Ray Jasso in the 15800 block of Emerald Court. On July 2, 2017, a party was being held for a 16-year-old with several of her friends at that location. Jasso who was at the party earlier went out into the driveway with his two young children to shoot fireworks. A short time later Najera arrived on the scene in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with several friends. A confrontation started after they were asked to leave and assaulted several people. The party goers began to throw objects at Najera’s vehicle as he pulled out of the driveway. As he pulled out he hit a fence, at least one vehicle and at least four people. Two of those hit were transported to Conroe Regional Trauma Center. One was in stable condition, however Jasso died a short time later. Montgomery County Detectives worked along with DPS into the night investigating the scene and interviewing witnesses. Detectives then began to pour over several videos they had acquired from cell phones and social media. One of the videos panned out as the image of the license number on the truck was in clear view. The next night detectives with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers traveled to north Houston just outside Loop 610. There they were able to recover the vehicle used in the hit and run. In addition, they interviewed several family members, however, Najera was not there. Detectives continued to work leads along with the Texas Rangers until he was finally taken into custody at the same location the Suburban was found in Houston. Najera was assigned to the 435th District Court. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
