MAN LOSES EVERYTHING TO ARSON FIRE

Benny McKinney worked over 20-years at Crown in Conroe. He saved his money and moved from his home in Conroe to an older home on Gulf Coast Road in the Grangerland area 13-years-ago. He enjoyed the quietness of the woods with no neighbors close by. Then not long ago he was hospitalized and lost a leg. During that time the thieves moved into the area. Almost weekly a friend who was watching the house had to call the sheriff’s office due to the home being broken into, property missing. It then got to the point of copper wire stripped from the home and his clock and coin collection stolen. It got to the point that game cameras were placed in several places around the property. Sometime late Friday night or Saturday morning it happened again. Just after 8 am Saturday morning Caney Creek firefighters were called to a structure fire on Gulf Coast Road. When they arrived Benny McKinney’s home was completely on the ground. He believes someone set fire to it to cover yet another theft. Once again the lock on the gate had been cut. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. Hopes are that the several gam cameras will show what actually happened or at least who entered the property.
