Man Mauled by Dogs he Saved

A Good Samaritan was mauled by three pit bulls after he saved them from drowning when their owners’ vehicle went into a swollen creek in East Montgomery County. Just before noon, a pickup was pulling a camper trailer on SH 105 E. near Security when it went off the road and into the water where it began to sink. The man and woman in the vehicle were able to get out safely, but it continued sinking with their three dogs inside. A bystander rescued the three pits and was then attacked by them.

Witnesses said the dogs attacked their owners when they pulled the dogs away from the Good Samaritan. Tow truck drivers and other bystanders on scene said they were fearful the dogs would get loose from their owners and return to the man who rescued them. Several ran to shield him as he lay on the ground bleeding. The victim is being transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital. The dog owners were also injured and bleeding, but refused transport to the hospital. They managed to coral the dogs into their camper trailer so that no one else was injured.
