George Vogel, age 43, was found guilty by Judge Kathleen Hamilton for three counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and subsequently sentenced by Judge Hamilton to Life in prison for three counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Upon motion by the State, Judge Hamilton stacked the sentences requiring the Defendant to fully serve each sentence before being eligible to begin the other.

The Defendant was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. During punishment, the fourteen year old child testified that the Defendant had sexually abused her on multiple occasions. The Court heard testimony of the horrific abuse the child had undergone at the hands of the Defendant. The abuse consisted of giving alcohol to the child and penetrating the child with multiple objects.

The case was handled by Assistant District Attorney, Cindy Pulcher, Chief Prosecutor over Internet Crimes Against Children. The case was investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, by Deputies Mike Evans and Elizabeth Hollan and lead Detective Trey Gordy. Evans and Hollan responded to the scene and collected critical evidence of the sexual assault. Det. Gordy spoke with multiple witnesses and executed a search warrant along with Det. Chris Tate and recovered multiple pieces of evidence linking the defendant to this crime. Inv. Joey Ashton, with the D.A.’s SVU, Crimes Against Children Division, sought video evidence from various businesses to corroborate the abuse. The defendant took the stand and admitted to the ongoing abuse of the child. After hearing the evidence and testimony of witnesses and the child, Judge Hamilton imposed a life sentence for each of the three counts and then ordered the sentences to run consecutively. “Today, Judge Hamilton sent a strong message that we will protect the children of Montgomery County.” said Pulcher. “The efforts of all involved, including Children’s Safe Harbor and their dedicated staff, Detective Gordy, Deputy Evans, Deputy Hollan, and Judge Hamilton demonstrate how various departments can bring justice for a child. However, the real hero in this case is the child who found the strength to face the Defendant in Court.”
