WEST MONTGOMERY COUNTY- Around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, a 43-year-old man was hit by a Union Pacific train and killed on tracks near the intersection of FM 1774 and Misty Meadow.
According to Lt. Dan Norris of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the train engineer was blowing his horn for the upcoming crossing and noticed something between the rails, which turned out to be a person lying on the tracks.
Just before the train reached the crossing, the engineer saw the man’s head raise up, Norris said.
Justice of the Peace Matt Masden conducted an inquest and had the body sent to the Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Conroe for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Timothy Matthew Graves of California, who had been staying in Magnolia since Easter.
