MANDATORY EVACUATION FOR LEWIS CREEK–IMMEDIATELY

Mandatory Evacuations are now ordered for residents in the area of concern.

The National Weather Service forecasts predict increased rain and thunderstorm activity on Sunday. This line of storms could bring 2 to 3 inches and damaging winds through Sunday evening. An additional 2 to 4 inches are possible Monday as rains continue.

In light of this information regarding the potential for heavy rain today and with an abundance of caution; The County Judge Craig Doyal, The Sheriff Tommy Gage, and Commissioner Precinct 1 Mike Meador met with Emergency Officials and determined that MANDATORY Evacuations are now appropriate for residents that fall in the area of concern at this time (map attached). A Red Cross shelter is open at the Lone Star Community Center in Montgomery. Address for this facility is 2500 Lone Star Parkway Montgomery, TX 77356.

Please know that at this time, the dam remains intact, there are no breaches. Workers continue to make progress to mitigate the soil slides along the levee.

The customer information center is open today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the North Montgomery County Community Center at 600 Gerald St. in Willis. Residents can speak to an Entergy representative about the situation.
