MANHUNT IN WILLIS ENDS IN CAPTURE OF ONE

Late Friday night Willis Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at the Cricket Hollow Apartments on FM 19097 West. As the first unit arrived a car which was blacked out came at the officer. Three black males fled the vehicle. One was captured but the other two fled.

As officers talked to the resident it appeared to be a home invasion. The trio knocked at the door and forced their way in when the door was open. All three black males had handguns. The one that was captured did not have a gun in his possession. One of the other two was spotted by another officer enter a retention pond between the apartments and the strip shopping center. Officers surrounded it and called for the K-9 unit. Both K -9’s responded and after almost an hour in the thick brush and swampy conditions the two deputies returned to their vehicles covered in mud, fleas and briars.

North Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the scene with a FLIR unit and also checked the roof of the shopping center for the suspect. Panorama Police and Precinct One Constables also assisted MCSO and Willis Police in the search.

Willis detectives are on the scene working on the investigation.
