MANHUNT SHORT LIVED THURSDAY MORNING

At about 2 am Thursday morning a DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle ion traffic on I-69 southbound feeder between Kingwood and Northpark. The Hispanic male immediately fled into the woods. A perimeter was set up with Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables and MCSO. Precinct 4 put the drone in the air at the same time K-9 was deployed. About 20 minutes later, as the suspect who was hiding in thick brush, saw the K-9 he stood up and surrendered.  The suspect, identified as Eric Rene Cerda, 35, of Cleveland was transported by MCHD to be checked out before being transported to the Montgomery County Jail. He is being held on a $1500 bond for driving while intoxicated and a $1500 bond for evading arrest with a previous conviction. Cerda had once before been arrested in Montgomery County on theft charges along with Liberty County warrants and an out-of-state warrant.
