Conroe Police discovered a marijuana grow in the southwest part of the city. The ten to twenty thousand plants that are as tall at 7 feet are thought to be several months old but have not fully matured. There were six sections involving several acres. Within the area, they found metal cots and other items which indicated they had sleeping arrangements. They also found pumps and other equipment.
The field which was discovered last week has been under surveillance since that time. Once it was determined that persons were not visiting the site, police shut it down.
Dozers were used to cut paths into the area just to access it from any roadway. Today over 50 federal, state, and local law enforcement officials started the slow process of cutting the field. Once cut it will be loaded onto four-wheelers and transported to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to be dried weighed and destroyed.
The landowners were unaware of the grow and have been cleared by law enforcement officials.
There are no suspects in the case.
