Late Friday night Huffman Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on Ash Lane off FM 2100 near where Montgomery, Harris and Liberty Counties all meet. When they arrived they had a mobile home fully involved in fire. Huffman requested units from New Caney, Porter and Plum Grove Fire Departments to respond to the scene. The only water supply was dependent on tankers from those departments.
Firefighters spent most of Friday night and well into Saturday morning fighting the blaze and putting out hotspots.
When they were finished the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office moved in to determine a cause. What was found was an indoor marijuana growing operation. of about fifteen plants.
After talking with the occupants, officials arrested Herman Toney, 35 and Shelley Sheffield, 40. After admitting to the operation they were both charged with possession of marijuana and booked into the Harris County Jail.
