At 2:49 am a report of a large fire was received by Montgomery and Liberty County Fire Dispatchers. Immediately trucks started making their way to Fostoria and I-69 where the fire was reported but were unable to locate it. Within seconds an orange glow was seen just past Anderson Ford and across the Liberty County line. As units arrived they found a flea market which had ben built several years ago with heavy smoke and flames showing. Immediately a second alarm was sounded and a third alarm minutes later.
There are no fire hydrants so water had to be trucked to the scene. A pond behind the complex was also a source of water.
Over 70 firefighters battled the blaze which was brought under control at 5:15 am.
There are no injuries, however building one was a total loss. Firefighters attempted to make entry but with wood construction collapse was a major concern.
