In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as “National Peace Officers Memorial Day”, and the week in which May 15th falls, as “National Police Week”.
Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, “National Police Week” pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
We would like to encourage all citizens in the City of Cleveland, Texas to show respect and honor to those who have proudly served, and are currently serving their communities across this country in law enforcement. There are many dedicated and brave men and women who put their uniforms on daily risking their own lives, and many have died making that final sacrifice.
To the family members of past law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty; we are recognizing, honoring, and commemorating all of our fallen heroes.
