Constables spotted the yellow Maverick traveling down Sweet Clover but the driver was able to lose them. A short time later an MCPR reader had just read the post when the Yellow Maverick side by side drove through his yard on Kingsport Road on the east side of US 59. He immediately contacted Montgomery County Dispatchers who passed the information on to deputies. As a Precinct 4 Deputy was driving down East River he spotted a white pick up truck parked in the middle of 8th Street and the Maverick just in front of it. As he turned down the road the male who is believed to have bee driving it fled into the woods. Two males on the scene in the white truck were detained but released. They stated they were driving down East River when they were flagged down by the thief asking for assistance. The Maverick had shut down and the battery was dead. They attempted to jump it using speaker wire which was unsuccessful. They were just about to tow it when the Deputy drove up on them. The owner responded to the scene to take possession of the vehicle which they determined had died due to running out of gas.
