On October 6, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a theft report at the Walmart at 20310 US Highway 59 in New Caney. Deputies were told a white male suspect entered Walmart and selected two laptops before approaching the electronics counter where he gave the cashier $1900 in $100 bills. The total cost of the laptops was $1,944, and the cashier counted the money and noticed the suspect was short $44 for the purchase. The suspect demanded to count the money himself, at which time the cashier handed the money back to him. The suspect folded 10 of the $100 bills in his left palm and placed it in his pocket without the cashier seeing. The suspect then handed the cashier nine of the original 19 bills along with another $45. The cashier believed the amount paid to be $1,945. The suspect then left the store with both laptops.
