On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at approximately 5:40 PM, a Deputy in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, after observing a traffic violation at Interstate 45 near Lake Woodlands. During the traffic stop, the Deputy smelled the distinct odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was refused by the driver. A Special Investigations Unit canine was deployed on the vehicle, which resulted with a positive alert. A search of the vehicle was conducted and approximately 12 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance.
