Shortly before 2 am on May 4, 2025, Sergeant Christian Lehman with the Patton Village Police Department attempted to stop the driver of a white 2025 Jeep Compass for a moving violation. The driver decided to evade, and a pursuit was on. The pursuit reportedly, at times, got up to 120 miles per hour and was heading quickly toward Polk County. The pursuit was about to enter Livingston when Officer Matthew Stuart, with the Livingston Police Department, successfully spiked both front tires on the Jeep and brought the 40-mile chase to an end just south of the Pan American overpass on the north-bound side of 59. The suspect, Karen Brattskar, 45, of 12 W. McAfee Ct. #53, Thousand Oaks, California , was quickly detained by Officers with the Livingston Police Department and was assisted by Trooper Datrell North with the Texas Highway Patrol, Patton Village Police, and Montgomery County Deputies. During a vehicle inventory, Karen Brattskar was found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana and liquid THC, and other contraband. Brattskar was taken into custody by Patton Village Police and transported back to Montgomery County. She is charged with possession on a controlled substance and evading arrest. Her vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow out of Livingston. Patton Village was assisted by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Livingston Police, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
