MISLEADING ADVERTISING LEFT IN AND ON MAILBOXES

For the past week, we have been getting many messages about a card being placed in and on mailboxes. Mostly in the Kingwood and Porter area. According to the Harris County District Clerks Office, this is not a good case number and they have gotten many calls. Another thing noted was the seal, “District of Harris County”. Most likely someone not even from this area. They say there have been many scams starting up since the storm and say they do not leave messages in this manner. On a civil case, it a Constable attempts to deliver papers, he or she most likely would leave a door hanger on your door with their office and a case number and phone number. Your name would also be included on it. If it is in your mailbox, which is illegal unless placed there by the US Postal Service you can file a complaint with the Postal Inspectors.
