Missing Cleveland Woman Found Murdered

It was reported to the Cleveland Police Department earlier this week that Latasha Evette Rucker, aka Green, D.O.B. 3-27-80 was missing from their city. After receiving information from Gerard Dante Simmons, D.O.B 4-27-88 as to her death and whereabouts, Cleveland Police Officers found her body in a wooded area of Wells Cemetery Road in north Liberty County on Sunday evening. Due to the fact that Rucker’s remains were found in the county, and it is felt she was killed in the City of Cleveland, Texas, it resulted in a duel jurisdictional investigation involving the Cleveland Police Department, Texas Rangers and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

Although the investigation is still on-going, information received at this time seems to indicate there was an on and off relationship between Rucker and Simmons which resulted in the death of Rucker. According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Don Neyland, Simmons confessed to the murder of Rucker which led Officers to the location of her remains. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

A charge of murder was filed against Gerard Dante Simmons out of Pct. 1 Justice Of the Peace Judge Stephen Hebert’s court and Simmons was arrested and placed in the Liberty County jail.
