MOBILE HOME DAMAGED BY FIRE

Just before 3 p.m. Splendora and New Caney Fire Departments were dispatched to a mobile home fire on Oak Terrace in Splendora. The homeowner, who had been outside saw flames through the window and called 911. When fire units arrived they had moderate fire conditions and heavy smoke inside. The fire was quickly extinguished but not before the home suffered heavy smoke damage.

Early indications on the cause point to a space heater to close to the Christmas tree.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating to determine the exact cause. But they warn to please keep space heaters away from anything combustible. A good rule of thumb is to keep the area at least 4 feet around it and 8 foot high clear.
