Splendora firefighters responded to house fire of FM 2090, just after 6 p.m. on Monday. They found a two-story guest house, a shop and stables engulfed in flames.
Two horses were injured but were released from their stalls as the fire quickly spread. However, another horse died in the fire.
As firefighters fought the blaze with the help of Plum Grove, New Caney, Porter and Grangerland Fire Departments who filled the void in New Caney with a pumper, friends gathered to help search for the two horses that were released.
They searched a fenced wooded area covering almost thirty acres, determined to find injured horses.
The building was a total loss. A bass boat and several 4-wheelers were destroyed in the fire. The guest house was almost completed on the inside according to the homeowner.
No other injuries were reported. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
