MONTGOMERY COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE 2012 DWI STATS

FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE

Here are our year end statistics for DWI cases.  There is a difference between some of the data.  There are two different time periods covered:  the year from January to December and the fiscal year from October 2011 to September 2012.  The reason for the difference sets of data is that I have to track the fiscal year for No Refusal.  Some of the more interesting things are that you see a spike in enforcement after the wrong way fatalities and the creation of the Bars and Cars Task Force.  Parks and Wildlife is only active during the summer and most of those cases are BWI cases.  Constable Hayden has done an excellent job with his emphasis on enforcement.  Shenandoah enforcement dropped off significantly when Officer Todd Schmaltz left the agency.  Willis has also stepped up their DWI enforcement due to their participation in a Houston Galveston Area grant.  The number of DWIs has gone up by about 600 over 2011.
