MONTGOMERY COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS PREPARED AS STORM APPROACHES MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Montgomery County Officials are prepared for the Tropical Storm as it moves toward Montgomery County. Last years decision to bring lake levels down by 2-feet during hurricane season may have paid off as Lake Conroe is currently down 27″ and unlike Harvey where heavy rains were brought in above the lake, they feel the lake can handle it. At this point, no water is flowing from the dam. Areas to watch are more to the East of I-45 Caney Creek, Peach Creek and the East Fork of the San
Jacinto but there again with virtually no rain they are down to a trickle. The main rain event is expected after midnight tonight and continues through tomorrow. At this point, no school closing in our area has been announced. Fire Departments are ready with high water rescue vehicles just in case. Officials wann people not to drive into high water. You may feel you can make it but as before once the vehicle gains any buoyancy it can easily be swept off the roadway.
