MONTGOMERY COUNTY HONORS FALLEN OFFICERS

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Department of Public Safety Troopers, Conroe Police,  Precinct 2 Constables Precinct 5 Constables met Wednesday morning in front of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for a memorial service to honor fallen officers. In Texas alone six officers have lost their lives in the line of duty and seventy one in the nation.Included in the event were elected officials also including Congressman Kevin Brady, District Attorney Brett Ligon, Judge Lisa Michalk, Sheriff Gage and County Judge Bard Saddler.

The event held annually as National Police Officers Memorial Week. Services as this one have been held in thousands of cities across the United States this week. It also honors all the men and women who are currently officers.

Congressman Kevin Brady spoke of fallen officers, over 19,000 the first dating back to 1791.  Of the 19,000 Texas ranks number one with a total of 1,560 officers. In 1991 a wall was erected honoring these fallen officers and this week 316 names will be added to that wall for the officers lost in the last year.

After raising the American Flag a wreath was placed by the Honor Guard at which point a fly-over was performed.
