Montgomery County Constable Pct. 4 Deputies served 64 civil papers, including 14 evictions, throughout East Montgomery County. Numerous suspects were arrested, clearing 26 JP4 warrants, 3 Montgomery County warrants, 1 Harris County warrant and 1 blue warrant (parole violation).
No Driver’s License, No Insurance, No Way!
15 vehicles were towed in East Montgomery County because 8 drivers had no license and/or no insurance and 7 drivers were arrested during traffic stops.

A costly reaction
On June 21, Deputy Juan Chapa was traveling south on Tram Road north of FM 2090 when he saw a green Ford F150 pickup pull out of gas station ahead of him. The driver looked back, and then stopped suddenly in the middle of Tram Road before pulling into a ditch, and turning around. The truck headed out the opposite direction and Deputy Chapa turned his patrol car around too, and then saw the suspect vehicle turn into a gas station without signaling. Deputy Chapa pulled into the parking lot and saw the truck trying to turn around again, almost striking a passenger car at the fuel pumps. Deputy Chapa made contact with the truck’s driver who had no ID, but gave his correct information. Cody Lee Street, 21, of Splendora had active warrants for assault by threat and failure to appear, but his problems did not end there. A customer at the gas station told Deputy Chapa she saw Street throw something into the grass when he returned to the store. When Deputy Chapa checked the area indicated, he found a Colt .357 revolver wrapped in a pair of shop rags. Street, a convicted felon, admitted tossing the gun out before the deputy approached him. In addition to the previously mentioned warrants, Street is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, which is a third-degree felony.
Wanted and in the wrong place at the wrong time
On June 19, Deputy C. Turrentine responded to a disturbance in progress at a home in the 19600 block of Ceal Road in Porter. Deputy Turrentine spoke with and conducted background checks on everyone in the residence. Turns out one of those present had a “blue warrant,” meaning he violated the terms of his parole on a robbery conviction. Philip Gene McDaniel, 41, of Baytown was taken into custody without incident.
More than diapers were in the bag…
Deputy A. Boudreaux assisted a Houston Police Officer in a Tuesday morning arrest. The HPD officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Hwy 59 near Northpark in the part of Houston that lies in Montgomery County. The driver told the officer the group in the vehicle, which included two children, was en route from Texas City to Lufkin. He became suspicious of their travel itinerary and felt something criminal was involved. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle and a narcotics K-9 Unit was called. The K-9 gave a positive odor response on the inside of the vehicle. Officers then searched the vehicle and found approximately .49 grams of cocaine (crack and powder) in a baby’s diaper bag in the rear floorboard. The mother of the two children onboard provided a written statement saying the cocaine was hers and she was transporting it from Texas City to Lufkin. Latoya Runnels, 24, of Lufkin was charged with second-degree felony possession of a controlled substance.
