Deputy R. Ford was on patrol around 11:05 p.m. on Monday, when he noticed a Ford Ranger traveling southbound on the Hwy 59 feeder road, unable to maintain a lane. He followed the vehicle onto the main lanes of the freeway, as it continued to move erratically until Deputy Ford stopped the SUV north of Community Drive. Gilbert Andrew Torres, 30, of Humble was inside with his two sons, ages 12 and 9 years, who were in the passenger seat. Torres failed a standard field sobriety test and admitted drinking beer. The children’s grandmother was contacted to take them from the scene and Torres was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated, second or more (third-degree felony) and two counts of driving while intoxicated with minor (a state jail felony).
